Epidermal development in Xenopus laevis: the definition of a monoclonal antibody to an epidermal marker.
نویسنده
چکیده
A monoclonal antibody 2F7.C7 which identifies an epidermal antigen common to both anuran and urodele amphibia is described. This antigen has a high molecular weight and is expressed at stage 12 1/2 first inside and then on the surface of epidermal cells. It is not expressed on presumptive nervous tissue. It is expressed on all cells of the larval epidermis including ciliated and nonciliated cells and sucker. The relationship of the epidermal antigen to 'epimucin' is investigated by blocking experiments using Peanut agglutinin. These studies suggest that either the molecule recognized by 2F7.C7 is not epimucin, or that its epitope is far away from the lectin-binding site. Studies using this antibody in grafting and sandwich experiments are discussed and an overall scheme of epidermal development in Xenopus is presented.

The expression of epidermal antigens in Xenopus laevis.
Five kinds of monoclonal antibodies that are specific for the epidermis of Xenopus embryos were produced. Epidermis-specific antibodies were used to investigate the spatial and temporal expressions of epidermal antigens during embryonic and larval development. The cells that were recognized by the antibodies at the larval stage are as follows: all of the outer epidermal cells and cement gland c...
متن کاملExpression of hsp90 Alpha and hsp90 Beta during Xenopus laevis Embryonic Development
Background: Members of the eukaryotic Hsp90 family function as important molecular chaperones in the assembly, folding and activation of cellular signaling in development. Two hsp90 genes, hsp90 alpha and hsp90 beta, have been identified in fish and homeothermic vertebrates but not in poikilothermic vertebrates. In the present study, the expression of hsp90 alpha and hsp90 beta genes in Xenopus...
متن کاملIsolation of desmosomes from the epidermis of Xenopus laevis and immunochemical characterization of the Xenopus desmosomal cadherins.
Here we report a new method of isolating epidermal desmosomes from Xenopus laevis, and a major constituent of desmosomes designated as Xenopus desmogleins (XDsg). Isolation of desmosomes from Xenopus laevis epidermis was carried out by a two step-incubation with different concentrations of NP-40. After discontinuous sucrose gradient centrifugation at 30,000 g for 60 min, a pure desmosomal fract...

Abstract: Background and Aim: Compare with Dentigerous cyst, Odontogenic Keratocyst is one of exclusive developmental cyst with unique clinical and histopathologic features. Considering the determining role of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in cell proliferation and survival, and the controversial results of previous studies regarding the expression of this marker by the odontogenic cy...
